Schefflera species are wonderfully tropical plants and a low-maintenance, easy-to-care-for plant that can add graceful foliage to a room. Also are often called Umbrella trees because of their large shiny dark green leaves that drape down like the spokes of an umbrella from a central stalk.
How To Care
Light: Bright, indirect light. In the summer, move it outside if possible under a shady overhang
Water: Water weekly during the growing season and spray frequently. Cut back water during winter.
Fertilizer: Feed twice weekly during the growing season with liquid fertilizer or use two applications of slow-release pellets. They are heavy feeders.
Temperature: it will suffer in temperatures less than 60 degrees.
Potting: Repot the plants annually as needed. A mature Schefflera can grow into a small tree up to 12 or even 15 feet tall.
Pruning: Occasional and strategic shoot tip trims will help new shoots to develop. Remove diseased or drooping parts.
