Cassia javanica

Cassia javanica, also known as Java cassiapink showerapple blossom tree and rainbow shower tree  is a species of tree in the family Fabaceae. Its origin is in Southeast Asia, but it has been extensively grown in tropical areas worldwide as a garden tree owing to its beautiful crimson and pink flower bunches.

Cassia javanica is a fast growing, deciduous tree which flowers in spring and sheds its leaves in the winter months. It has a straight trunk that reaches heights of 25 -  The leaves are paripinnate with 12 pairs of elliptical leaves. The flowers range in colour from pale pink to crimson with yellow coloured stamens and are found in open clusters. The ground under the tree is covered with a beautiful carpet of pink towards the end of the flowering season. The fruit are housed in long cylindrical dark brown pods. Because of its beauty and suitable size C. javanica is planted as a shade and ornamental tree on streets and in parks.,  javanica is polymorphic and several sub species such as those listed below exist..

How To Care

Pink Cassia prefers well drained soil. It grows best in humid and warm regions.

It thrives in full sun. It can be given a light pruning once the flowering is over

Light: Provide cassia glauca with a full sunlight.

Water: Water garden cassia approximately once a week with 1 to 2 inches of water.

Fertilizer: Cassias are extremely drought tolerant and require little fertilization

Temperature: They rarely survive temperatures below 30 F. (-1 C.)

Potting: Recommends growing cassia trees from seed. The seeds are rock hard and watertight, so we need to soak the seed and place it in the pot filled with peat moss and compost.

Pruning: Trim out dead branches or leaves at any time during the growing season.
